Salvatore T. Meli

Retired Hackensack police sergeant and Army veteran, 85


Salvatore T. Meli, 85 years old, of Toms River, N.J., passed away April 16, 2019 at home. 

Born in Hackensack, N.J., where he was a lifelong resident, Salvatore was a sergeant for the Hackensack Police Department, retiring in 1983 after 27 years. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
 
Surviving are his daughters, Debi Meli and her husband,
Rick Ragucci, Kim Simpson and her husband, Michael,
Leigh Hellier and her husband, Charles, Stacey Meli, and his son, David Meli and his wife, Stephanie. He also leaves his sisters, Phyllis Lancaric and Jean Walters, and cherished grandchildren, Jordan, Jillian, Julian,
Bella and Angelina.
 
A Celebration of Life will be celebrated on Saturday,
April 20, 2019 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Rd., Toms River, silvertonmemorial.com. Inurnment will be Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at the Brigadier Gen. William C. Doyle Veteran Cemetery, Wrighstown,
at 2 p.m.
